Campsite and Woodland

Situated on the Somerset/Wiltshire/South Gloucestershire borders, within an area of outstanding natural beauty, Rocks East offers traditional family camping with the added attraction of woodland walks, a sculpture trail for children and a small amphitheatre for group get-togethers.

The historic city of Bath, with its many attractions, is only five miles from the campsite. Bristol can be reached in thirty minutes, and a trip to Wales takes only an hour over the Severn bridge. Places such as the Roman city of Cirencester, Dyrham Park, Westonbirt Arboretum, Stonehenge, Bowood House and Longleat are all easily accessible, and there is a wide range of other tourist attractions to visit in the area.

Three fields at the edge of the woodland, sheltered by trees, provide a pretty and relaxed camping atmosphere. At Rocks East we try as much as we can to adopt an informal approach to enable campers to enjoy their experience.

A particular feature of our campsite is the fact that we allow camp fires and provide specially made fire trays for this purpose. Logs are always available and are sourced from our own sustainable woodland.

We have our own little Yurt, which comfortably sleeps a family of four, and this is available for hire from the beginning of May.

Together with family groups, we also welcome school parties, scouts, guides and other youth groups.

The campsite is open from mid-March until the end of October each year.

At Rocks East we have a wide range of facilities for events such as

• Birthday celebrations for both children and adults
• Wedding receptions
• Anniversaries
• Retreats
• Corporate away-days
• School parties
• Group camps for Scouts, Guides and other organisations

Our log cabin office and shop sits in the middle of the campsite and provides toilet, shower and washing-up facilities. There are many things to do in the surrounding area, including cycling or wandering around the country lanes. The nearby villages of Marshfield, Colerne and Ford are all good destinations for cyclists, whilst Bath is only twenty minutes away by car. There are also good pubs in the local area, most of them child-friendly.

Our little shop sells soft drinks, ice creams crisps, sweets, a few basic camping provisions, and inexpensive gifts.

We also offer a classroom/lecture room and outdoor seating, together with two barbecues for hire.

Our attractive woodland, which is a mix of broadleaf and coniferous trees, provides a home for deer, badgers, foxes, other smaller mammals, a variety of birdlife and many interesting plants and insects.

For children there is a sculpture trail with carved woodland animals and birds, and a family picnic area near our 'Teddy Bear' log cabin!

Other designated walks through the woodland enable visitors to enjoy a little part of our lovely English countryside at its best, whatever the season.
